This week in 4B....

Happy Monday!  I can't wait to see you all tomorrow night!

Here's what we are up to this week in 4B:

Reading: We have started our reading workshop and students are working on building their reading stamina as well as choosing a just right book.

Writing:  We have started our Personal Narrative Unit.  Help you child brainstorm some possible experiences that they may enjoy writing about. (Their brainstorm page is in the back of their writer's notebook so we can easily find ideas when we need to write.)

Math: We have already tackled a few topics such as place value, subtracting while borrowing across zeros and rounding up to one hundred thousand.  Please check your child's assignment notebook nightly.  They typically have math homework.  Our entire unit's workbook pages are in the math section so they can work through them for extra practice if needed.

Social Studies: We have began our mapping unit where we are talking about hemispheres, longitude, latitude and how to find specific places using the degrees.

Science: We will begin our Rocks & Minerals Unit Wednesday with a guest speaker!

Homework:
Spelling: Sentences & Definitions due Friday, test Friday 8/28
Math: worksheet
Social Studies: (If they did not finish) p. 6 & 7
All About Me Posters- due today, if you happen to have them at home please send them tomorrow so I can have them hanging in the hall for tomorrow night.  :)

  • Students should be reading nightly to help build their fluency and comprehension as readers.  Try reading the first chapter of a book to get them interested.
  • We have Library on Tuesday. (Remind your child to bring their school library books back so that they can check out new books.)
  • I am missing a lot of homework and forms that are due this week.  Check your child's take home binder for picture order forms, spelling tests that need to be signed and returned, the RSA buzz book form, and our "Friday note."
